11 detectors for aggression detection are installed on several spots in the Poelestraat and Peperstraat as supplement on the surveillance cameras.
The advantages
The detectors recognize aggressive voices and alert the control room on incidents that happen in front of the associated camera. The system shows where the incident is happening, so police or security staff is able to intervene in time. The advantage is that on busy nights the people in the control room know which camera they need to watch. On quiet nights continuous monitoring is not necessary. Fewer incidents escalate, which makes the centre of the city safer for the public.
