The NS has ninety trains especially for short distances at the moment. These are mainly used in the Randstad. In the future, this number will increase to 125. When the first cameras will be placed, is according to the informant unknown. He estimates that in 2010 all sprinters (see photo, source: ANP) will have them.

Sprinter ANPThe cameras are equipped with aggression-microphones which are able to separate aggressive voices from normal loud voices.

According to a spokesman of the police the cameras are fine-tuned to detect certain pitch and the speed of spoken words. A detection of aggression by the microphone results in a signal to the service center.

The NS tested the cameras already in international trains between Amsterdam and Brussels. The listening cameras are also placed in the city of Groningen and are tested in the cities of Rotterdam and Dordrecht.
