Technology
The sound analysis software imitates the way in which humans deal with sound. Sound reaches our brain after having been carefully split into vibrations at different frequencies. From the inner ear (cochlea) these vibrations are converted into electric signals that are interpreted by the brain.

Research
A similar approach was developed by Sound Intelligence, based on years of scientific research. Humans pick up interesting sounds effortlessly from the surrounding soundscape. There are certain sounds to which everyone reacts 'instinctively'. Sounds indicative of aggression and fear have specific characteristics to which any person can not help but respond.
Normal life is interrupted automatically when someone shouts or screams for help. These sounds have properties that we simply cannot ignore.
A step forward
Until now it was possible to judge separate sounds based on level, frequency content and duration.
Sound Intelligence has taken a step forward in the development of sound detection technology by adding several human criteria. In this way sounds can be detected that would attract the attention of any normal-hearing listener, irrespective of background noise.
